ICC issues tender for Production Services for ICC Events 2016 to 2019

The ICC today announced that tender documents for the provision of production services for ICC Events 2016-2019 are available on application from interested parties.

The ICC is seeking proposals from production houses in respect of full live and highlights programming from each of the following ICC Events:

ICC World Twenty20 2016 India
ICC Champions Trophy 2017 England & Wales
ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 England & Wales

ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2018 Bangladesh

ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2016 Bangladesh
ICC Women’s World Cup 2017 England & Wales
ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2018 New Zealand
ICC Women’s World Twenty20 2018 West Indies

Interested production houses are expected to have appropriate experience, infrastructure, staffing, resources, capability and financial standing to produce outstanding live cricket coverage.

Applications from consortia or joint applications will not be entertained.

All interested companies should submit, by email to production.itt@icc-cricket.com, the following:

full corporate legal name and registered address; and
other relevant contact information,

as soon as possible and in any event by no later than 0900 (Dubai time) on Wednesday 4 November 2015. On receipt of the above by the ICC, interested parties will receive a confidentiality agreement for countersignature and return, together with further instructions, before being issued with any of the tender documents.

The ICC will begin issuing the tender documents on Wednesday 28 October 2015.

Root back as No.1 ranked Test batsman, Yasir becomes second best bowler in the world

Asad, Prasad, Wahab, Wood and Holder also achieve career-high rankings

England’s batsman Joe Root has regained the number-one batting ranking, while Pakistan’s wrist spinner Yasir Shah has become the second highest-ranked bowler in the world in the latest ICC Test Player Rankings, which were released on Tuesday morning following the conclusion of the Colombo and Dubai Tests.

Root scored 88 and 71 in the Dubai Test, which has helped him reclaim the top spot from Australia captain Steven Smith. Root, who entered the Test trailing Smith by 13 points, now leads the Australian by just three points. This means the Yorkshire batsman will have to perform strongly in the third Test, starting in Sharjah from Sunday, to retain the position he first achieved following the Trent Bridge Test against Australia in August.

Younus Khan, Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq and Asad Shafiq have also reaped the rewards of good performances in the Dubai Test, which went down to the wire.

Younus has returned to the top five in fifth position following knocks of 56 and 118, Misbah has moved up five places to 11^th following his scores of 102 and 87, and Asad Shafiq has achieved a career-high ranking of 12^th after he scored 83 and 87. For this performance, Asad has earned 43 points, which, in turn, has put him ahead of Virat Kohli, Ross Taylor, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Brendon McCullum and Faf du Plessis.

The Dubai Test was also a memorable one for Pakistan’s leg-spinner Yasir Shah, who has achieved the number-two ranking for the first time in his career. Yasir picked up eight for 180 in Pakistan’s 178 runs victory, which has earned him 25 points. This has, in turn, enabled him to leapfrog the pace trio of England’s James Anderson and Stuart Broad, and New Zealand’s Trent Boult.

Given that Yasir is still in the qualification period for bowlers, it is likely that he will be able to further reduce the 78-point gap with world number-one Dale Steyn if he puts up another solid show in the Sharjah Test.

As many as six other bowlers have also achieved career-best rankings.

Sri Lanka’s Dhammika Prasad has moved up four places to a career-high 15^th position following match figures of five for 72, Wahab Riaz of Pakistan has rocketed nine places to a career-high 35^th position after match figures of five for 144, Imran Khan’s four wickets in the match have put him in 47^th position after gaining seven places, England’s Mark Wood has shot 13 places to 48^th spot after match figures of five for 83, West Indies captain Jason Holder has moved up three places to a career-best 49^th after taking two wickets in the match and player of the Colombo Test Milinda Siriwardana has jumped 44 places to a career-best 71^st spot following figures of two for 26 and three for 25.

Other bowlers inside the top 50 who have made upward movements include Jerome Taylor in 21^st (up by three places), Dilruwan Perera in 26^th (up by two places), Moeen Ali in 29^th (up by two places) and Zulfiqar Babar in 30^th (up by four places).

In the ICC Test Team Rankings, there is no change to Sri Lanka and West Indies’ rankings as they continue to hold seventh and eighth positions, respectively.

However, Pakistan has given itself an excellent opportunity to claim second position. However, to make this happen, it will have to win the Sharjah Test. In this scenario, Pakistan will join Australia on 106 points but will be ranked above Australia when the ratings are calculated beyond the decimal point.

If England draws level, then both the sides will retain their pre-series rankings and points. In the case of a draw, England will drop to fifth to push both Pakistan and India one place up.

The ICC today announced that tender documents for the provision of outside broadcast equipment and associated services for ICC Events 2016-2019 are available on application from interested parties.

The ICC is seeking proposals from providers of outside broadcast equipment and associated services in respect of the following packages of ICC Events:

Package 1: covering the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2016 (Bangladesh), ICC World Twenty20 2016 (India) and ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2018 (Bangladesh);

Package 2: covering the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 (England), ICC Women’s World Cup 2017 (England), ICC Women’s World Twenty20 2018 (West Indies) and ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 (England);

Package 3: covering the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2018 (New Zealand); and/or

Package 4: covering the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2016 (Bangladesh), ICC World Twenty20 2016 (India), ICC Champions Trophy 2017 (England), ICC Women’s World Cup 2017 (England), ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2018 (New Zealand), ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2018 (Bangladesh), ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2018 (Bangladesh), ICC Women’s World Twenty20 2018 (West Indies) and the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 (England).

Ireland tops table after convincing victory over Namibia

Ireland had the fairly straightforward task of picking up three wickets on the final day of its four-day tie against Namibia to notch up its second win in the ICC Intercontinental Cup on Tuesday (October 27) and it did so without much fuss.

Namibia resisted for a little over an hour, adding 39 runs in the process, but Ireland wrapped up the formalities to surge the top of the points table with a win by an innings and 107 runs at Wanderers Cricket Ground in Windhoek.

The Ireland bowlers, who were clinical in bowling Namibia out for 251 in the first innings, were as effective in Namibia’s second hit, reducing it to 169 for 7 by end of the third day. In the end, 212 is all Namibia managed.

Namibia’s response, over two innings, was to Ireland’s first-innings total of 570 for 6 declared, which came on the back of William Porterfield’s 186 and 205 in 201 balls from Ed Joyce, who was named the Man of the Match.

With Namibia 319 runs behind when it started its second innings, Tim Murtagh ran through the top order, picking up three of the first four wickets to fall to leave the scoreboard reading 12 for 4. Murtagh later picked up JP Cotze’s wicket to finish with 4 for 18 as Namibia ended the third day on 173 for 7.

JJ Smit and Zane Green, the overnight batsmen, gave Namibia hope of at least reducing the margin of defeat when they added 47 runs for the eighth wicket on the third evening and then batted for 37 more on the final morning. Smit scored 45 from 110 balls, while Green made 35 from 111, but once Paul Stirling, who had scalped the prize wicket of Sarel Burger earlier, sent back Smit, the end was around the corner.

George Dockrell then joined the act to bring a swift end to Namibia’s resistance. Dockrell (3 for 55) got rid of Green and followed it up with the wicket of Christopher Coombe the very next delivery to finish the game on a hat-trick.

Ireland, which had defeated United Arab Emirates by an innings and 26 runs in its opening tie, has 40 points now, followed by the Netherlands with 26 and Namibia in third place with 20.

The next Intercontinental Cup fixture is between UAE and Hong Kong, the two teams at the bottom of the eight-team table, at the ICC Academy grounds in Dubai from November 11 to 14.

Afghanistan is now on the verge of registering yet another famous series win to further underscore its credentials of being one of the most exciting Associate teams in the world.

It has been a difficult past 24 hours for the people of Afghanistan, with a severe earthquake rocking a large section of the country's northern provinces on Monday afternoon. It can’t be easy for anyone from the country to get on with life, especially if they are far away on work, but that’s what the national team cricketers must do when they walk out to take on Zimbabwe in the second and final Twenty20 International in Bulawayo on Wednesday (October 28).

It’s an opportunity for Afghanistan to finish off a hugely successful tour on a high and that should help it stay focused for one last three-hour stretch.

After registering a historic 3-2 win – its first against a full-member nation – in the five-match One-Day International series, Afghanistan, powered by Dawlat Zadran, earned a six-wicket win in the first game of the two-match T20I series.

Dawlat’s three-wicket burst and an unbeaten half-century stand between Mohammad Nabi and Najibullah Zadran gave Afghanistan victory, and it is now on the verge of registering yet another famous series win to further underscore its credentials of being one of the most exciting Associate teams in the world.

Nabi, who has given up the captaincy of the team, has led the way with the bat right through the series, first scoring 223 runs in the five ODIs at an average of 44.60, and then striking a crucial 33 not out in the first T20I.

Nabi, fortunately for Afghanistan, has found able allies in Najibullah, Mohammad Shahzad and Asghar Stanikzai, the new captain, to give his side's batting a formidable look. And, along with Dawlat, Amir Hamza has been a thorn in Zimbabwe’s flesh right through the series with the ball.

Zimbabwe, meanwhile, will be desperate to turn things around after having suffered a series of close losses. Sean Williams, who scored a century in a losing cause in the last ODI, Sikander Raza, Richmond Mutumbami, Chamu Chibhabha and Elton Chigumbura have all been in decent touch with the bat, but Zimbabwe has failed to pack a finishing punch in the matches so far.

As far as the bowling is concerned, Wellington Masakadza, with ten wickets at 18.80 was the leading wicket-taker in the ODI series, but returned 1 for 39 in Afghanistan’s 159 for 4 in the T20I. Tendai Chisoro, Christopher Mpofu and the other bowlers must also lift their games, but if Zimbabwe wants to prevent what could be an embarrassing loss, the entire team will have to lift its game, especially the batting unit.

Ireland maintained a firm grip on its ICC Intercontinental Cup match against Namibia, ending the third day just three wicket away from sealing its second win in the tournament.

Starting the day on 402 for 3, Ireland declared on 570 for 6, with a massive overall lead of 319. Then, a fine display of pace bowling from Tim Murtagh (4 for 16) reduced Namibia to 169 for 7 at the Wanderers Cricket Ground in Windhoek on Monday(October 26).

Ireland lost Gary Wilson (25) and William Porterfield early into the day, but Stuart Poynter (33), Kevin O’Brien (45 not out) and John Mooney (53 not out) ensured the side maintained control.

Porterfield's 327-ball innings finally came to an end when Christopher Coombe (2 for 92) had him caught by Sarel Burger, but not before the captain made 186, an innings that saw 21 hits to the boundary and one six.

Mooney and Kevin added 97 runs for the seventh wicket to frustrate the Namibia bowlers before Porterfield decided to have a crack at victory.

While the batmen did their job brilliantly, the bowlers ensured a tough start to Namibia’s reply, with the top four batsmen dismissed with only 12 runs on the board.

Xander Pitchers was trapped lbw by Murtagh off the fourth ball of the innings. Murtagh then nipped out Stephan Baard, the captain, in his next over for 1. Raymond van Schoor lasted nine deliveries before he was bowled by Murtagh to give the pacer his third wicket.

In need of a partnership, Namibia pinned its hopes on JP Kotze and Burger. The duo fought for 17 overs to add 68 runs for the fifth wicket. Burger was then undone by Paul Stirling in the 24th over to be caught by Niall O’Brien, the wicketkeeper.

Kotze then collaborated with Gerrie Snyman (31) to take the score into three figures. With wickets tumbling and the pressure mounting, Kotze became Murtagh’s fourth victim of the day before George Dockrell had Snyman leg-before in the 44th over. At the time, Namibia was seven down and still trailing by 193 runs.

JJ Smit (18 not out) and Zane Green (18 not out) then batted out the remaining overs while adding 36 runs but Namibia still trails by 150 runs and will have a steep task on hand on the fourth and final day.

Earlier, Ed Joyce made a magnificent 205 after the Ireland bowlers restricted Namibia to 251 in the first innings.

Ireland has already sealed six points on the basis of a first-innings lead and now has 26 points after its win against the United Arab Emirates in the first game.
