Pakistan’s Nida Dar has been suspended from Wednesday’s third Women’s One-Day International against the West Indies after being found guilty of breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the second ODI in St Lucia on Sunday.
Nida has been handed one Suspension Point* for making “deliberate physical contact with an opposing player”.
The incident happened in the fourth over of the West Indies innings when Nida walked from her fielding position of mid-wicket to the bowler’s end where she made physical contact with the West Indies captain Stafanie Taylor who was the non-striker.
Nida pleaded not guilty to the charge and, as such, ICC Regional Referee, David Jukes, held a formal hearing in which he found the player guilty as charged. The hearing was also attended by Pakistan women’s team captain Sana Mir.
Meanwhile, Sana Mir has receive an official reprimand for her comments post the second ODI, which was a breach of the ICC Code of Conduct that deals with “Public criticism of, or inappropriate comment”. Sana pleaded guilty to the offence and accepted the sanction offered by the match referee.
The charges had been laid by umpires Gregory Brathwaite, Joel Wilson and Jacqueline Williams.
*One Suspension Point in the Code equates to a suspension from one ODI or one T20I, to be applied to the subsequent international match in which the player sanctioned is most likely to participate in
